Suing under State Law:The State of Wisconsin has strong protections from harassment by debt collectors. You can sue a debt collector under the Wisconsin Consumer Act. The WCA allows you to collect a minimum of $100 and maximum of $1000 of statutory damages, actual damages which can include emotional distress or mental anguish, attorneys fees and costs.
